The Amazon Prime Video series Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will return next month with its third season. Earlier this year the network showed a brief teaser at San Diego Comic‑Con, but details about the new chapter have been scarce—until now. The full trailer has been released, and it places a rising Sauron at the center of the story, determined to dominate Middle‑Earth with a legion of Orcs while elves, dwarves and men struggle to coordinate a defense. The preview also introduces the human characters destined to become the Ringwraiths; the showrunners refer to them as the Nazgnagol, meaning “Rings‑servant.”
(There are spoilers for the first two seasons below.)
Prime Video made a substantial commitment to The Rings of Power when it secured the rights from the Tolkien estate, agreeing to produce several seasons from the outset. Season 3 is set seven years after the events of season 2 and opens amid the peak of the war between the elves and Sauron. According to the official synopsis, the conflict has reached a critical point as the various peoples of Middle‑Earth confront the growing threat.
