Anthropic and AI‑infrastructure firm Nscale, which announced a $45 billion compute partnership just over a month ago, are reportedly on the brink of a second deal of the same size, Bloomberg says. Sources familiar with the negotiations told the outlet that talks are still ongoing and that terms could shift before any final announcement. If the agreement is finalized, it would add to a series of large‑scale compute contracts Anthropic has secured over the past year.
TechCrunch reached out to both companies for comment and will update the story if new information emerges. The sheer scale of these deals has raised concerns among some investors, who fear that companies are committing vast sums of money with limited short‑term returns. Anthropic, however, remains confident that the investments will ultimately pay off.
Both firms are also pursuing initial public offerings. Anthropic is expected to go public later this year, while Nscale is preparing its own IPO. Bloomberg reported on Monday that Nscale is encountering resistance from investors over its proposed $30 billion valuation.
The ongoing discussions underscore the rapid pace of capital flowing into AI compute infrastructure, a trend that continues to shape the industry’s landscape.
