Arturia has broadened its lineup of unconventional digital synthesizers by introducing the MiniFreak 49. While the new model shares much of its internal architecture with the existing MiniFreak, it brings a suite of more professional features and several interface refinements.
The most obvious difference is the keyboard: the MiniFreak 49 replaces the MiniFreak’s 37‑key mini‑keyboard and the MicroFreak’s 25‑key touch‑plate with a full‑size, 49‑key semi‑weighted keybed. The keys support only mono aftertouch, which some users may find limiting compared to polyphonic aftertouch. In addition, the device swaps the touch‑strips found on earlier Freak models for dedicated aluminum pitch and modulation wheels, offering a more traditional performance experience.
