AI assistant startup Town reaches unicorn status just four months after debut

San Francisco‑based Town, a two‑year‑old startup building AI assistants, announced on Monday that it has achieved a unicorn valuation after closing a $108 million Series B round. The financing was co‑led by Forerunner Ventures and Menlo Ventures, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz, Serena Ventures and First Round Capital. The company went public only four months ago and says it generated millions of dollars in annual recurring revenue within weeks of launch. To date Town has raised at least $160 million, including a $55 million Series A round announced in June.

Town was founded by former Plaid chief technology officer Jean‑Denis Greze and joins a growing field of AI‑assistant providers. Its product is aimed at enterprises, giving each employee a personal AI assistant, known as a Townie, that links to email, calendars and other core work tools. Townies can communicate with one another, share approved information, and now have the ability to interact with customers and external partners.

In conjunction with the new funding, Town introduced a shared workflow that automatically refreshes employees’ Townies with the latest business data, eliminating the need for individual updates. The company did not respond to requests for comment.
